FAQs

What do I need to bring to lessons? Swimmers will need to bring a towel, swimming costume or trunks (we recommend tight fitting costumes and trunks to aid learning) and their swimming hat. Swimming goggles are recommended once your swimmer reaches Sea Turtle level, however they are more than welcome to wear them in Starfish level if they wish. For babies and toddlers who are toilet training they will need to wear a swim nappy either disposable or re-usable along with a neoprene swim nappy on top.

Do I go in the water with my child too? For swimmers in our Splashers classes a parent or guardian will need to accompany them in the water. For all other classes children will attend their lesson without a parent or guardian in the water.

How long are the lessons? Unless otherwise stated all lessons are 30 minutes in duration.

Can I watch my child swim? Yes of course! We have an upstairs spectating area for parents/guardians to wait and watch as their child swims.

How do I know how my child is getting on? We use a swim portal in which you can track your child’s progress and see past and future awards. You are also more than welcome to drop us an email with any questions in regards to your child’s progress and we will get back to you once we have spoken to their teacher.

What happens if I need to cancel a lesson? Once the portal is up and running you can alert us through your own custom log in or just drop us an email. For group lessons any missed lesson is forfeited and cannot be refunded or rescheduled. For private please see the cancellation policy.

Do you offer taster lessons? We do not offer taster sessions during normal lesson times as we know sometimes it takes swimmers a few sessions to settle in so a one-off lesson doesn’t always give you the length of time you need to, to see if they like it. We also find having new swimmers join groups for one lesson disrupts the learning of the other swimmers which we obviously want to avoid. We do offer intensive courses during some half terms which would be a one-off payment for the week. This is a great way to trial the lessons. Alternatively, you can book into one-off private lessons as and when they become available before joining group lessons if you feel this will benefit your swimmer and help them get an idea of what the lessons would be like.

Do you have a waiting list and how does it work? We do have waiting lists for some lessons but with our bespoke pathway and swimmers improving all the time there is often regular movement. Our waiting lists are based on order of contact however we do also follow an active waiting list system. Any swimmer on our waiting list that attends an intensive course or a one-off private lesson will move up the list one space for every course or private they attend.

Will my child receive certificates? Definitely! We know how important rewarding children for their achievements is which is why our bespoke pathway has been specially designed with smaller jumps between levels to allow for awards to be achieved more often. Swimmers can achieve certificates and medals along our award pathway which can be purchased if you wish.
