Group Classes Overview
Discovery 1
- No prior swim lesson or aquatic experience required.
- Gentle introduction to the water and lessons.
- Focus on building water confidence and water safety with the use of aids, toys and fun activities.
- In water teacher/helper support.
Discovery 2
- No prior swim lesson experience is required.
- Swimmers must have some level of water confidence.
- Swimmers will build on their water confidence whilst introducing the FUNdamentals of swimming using buoyancy aids.
- In water teacher/helper support.

Novice 1
- Swimmers must have water confidence
- Swimmers must be happy swimming 2-3m independently without aids.
- Swimmers must be happy floating on their front and back with limited aids.
- Swimmers will be introduced to 3 main swimming strokes.
- Swimmers will develop their floating, submersion and gliding skills.
Novice 2
- Prior swim lesson experience is required.
- Swimmers must be confident floating in the water unaided for 5+ seconds.
- Swimmers must be able to swim a width on their front and back unaided.
- Swimmers will continue to develop the 3 main swimming strokes.

Intermediate 1
- Swimmers must be comfortable swimming where they may not be able to touch the floor (height of swimmer dependent).
- Swimmers must be able to float on their front and back for 10 seconds independently.
- Swimmers must be able to swim 10m on their front and back without aids.
- Swimmers will focus on frontcrawl breathing to the side
- Swimmers will be introduced to the 4th swimming stroke.
Intermediate 2
- Swimmers must be comfortable swimming where they may not be able to touch the floor (height of swimmer dependent).
- Swimmers must be able to float on their front and back for 10 seconds independently.
- Swimmers must be able to swim 15m on their front and back without aids using both arms and legs.
- Swimmers will start to refine their technique on Frontcrawl, Backstroke and Breaststroke.

Advanced 1
- Swimmers must be comfortable swimming out of their depth in deep water and a distance of 25m.
- Swimmers must be able to tread water for 15 seconds.
- Swimmers must be confident submerging underwater.
- Swimmers must have the basic skill of breathing to the side on Frontcrawl, this skill will continue to be developed in this class.
- Swimmers will have a strong focus on Breaststroke, specifically getting their feet turned out on their kick.
Advanced 2
- Swimmers must be comfortable swimming out of their depth in deep water.
- Swimmers must be able to tread water for 30 seconds.
- Swimmers must be confident swimming down to collect an object from the bottom of the pool.
- Swimmers will start refining their stroke technique and start to build on their stamina in preparation for lengths.

Lengths Beginner
- Swimmers must easily be able to swim 100m.
- Swimmers must be able to tread water for 45 seconds.
- Swimmers must be able to swim all of the 4 swimming strokes at a basic level
- Swimmers will continue building on their stroke technique over greater distances.
- Swimmers will develop their sculling, somersaults and submersion skills.
Lengths Beginner
- Swimmers must easily be able to swim 200m.
- Swimmers must be able to swim all of the 4 swimming strokes at a good level
- Swimmers will continue building on their stroke technique over greater distances.
- Swimmers will develop their sculling, somersaults and submersion skills.
Lengths Intermediate
- Swimmers must be able to swim all of the 4 swimming strokes competently.
- Swimmers must be able to tread water for 1 minute.
- Swimmers will be taught a variety of drills to make their strokes more efficient.
- Swimmers will be introduced to diving and tumble turns.
Lengths Advanced
- Swimmers must be able to swim all of the 4 swimming strokes over greater distances.
- Swimmers will be introduced to some of the competitive rules of swimming.
- Swimmers will continue to perfect all of their strokes building on both speed and stamina.
- Swimmers will develop their diving and tumble turns skills.
